Questions and answers about your AI receptionist
Questions owners ask us
Straight answers, no fine print games.
What happens when a call is urgent?
You decide what counts as urgent, such as a burst pipe, a no-heat call, or a job over a certain size. When a call matches, your receptionist transfers it live to your cell phone. Everything else becomes a detailed summary by text and email.
Can I keep my existing business number?
Yes. Most owners forward their existing number to the new number we set up, so customers keep calling the number they know. If you need a business number, we provide a local one.
What do the call summaries look like?
After every call you get the caller's name, phone number, what they need, and any time-sensitive details flagged. The summary arrives by text and email, not in a voicemail box you might forget to check.
Can my receptionist make calls for me?
Yes, two ways. Text your Ringception number from your registered phone and tell it who to call and why; it confirms with you first, then calls as your business. Or upload a lead sheet in your account and it works the follow-up calls, with a status and summary for every lead. Warm leads only: past customers, inquiries, and people who asked to hear from you. Federal and state law requires their consent to call, and you confirm that consent when you upload.
Are email campaigns and texting campaigns included?
They are an optional add-on for business lines only. Campaigns are not part of the base plan, and they are not available on personal accounts. For $39 a month per business line, the Follow-Up Campaigns add-on runs email and text follow-ups in your business name to your own customers and callers, with the wording approved by you before anything sends. Personal accounts are one-to-one instead: reminders, confirmations, and texts you dictate, never bulk campaigns or follow-up sequences.
What if a caller asks if it is a robot?
It answers honestly and keeps helping. Most callers want to know that someone answered and that their message will reach you. That is what the receptionist is designed to do.
How does billing work?
The $29 setup (our new client promotion) and your first month at $15 are charged when you sign up, $44 total. After that, $15 a month per number keeps your service active, and your number is included. Talk time costs $0.17 per minute, billed per second, and texts with your customers are 5 cents each, sent or received. Messages between you and your receptionist are included: the first 150 a month are on us, then 5 cents each. Both run through your Ringception account wallet: you add credit up front, your usage draws from it, and you can see exactly what you used at any time. We never send a separate talk-time bill.
What if my business is seasonal or slows down?
With per-minute billing, slow months mean lower usage charges. Your number stays yours while the service is active. There is no long-term contract.
How does cancellation work?
Cancel anytime with a simple message. Your service runs to the end of the paid period, then the dedicated number is released. There are no cancellation fees or retention hurdles.
Questions people ask us
Straight answers, no fine print games.
What happens when a call is really important?
You decide what counts: a call from your kid's school, the doctor's office, a family member. Your assistant takes the full message, with the caller's name, number, and the details, and sends it to you flagged as important, right away, by text and email. You set the rules at setup, and it follows them every time.
Can I keep my existing number?
Yes. Most people forward their current number to the new number we set up, so friends and family keep calling the number they already know. If you would rather, you can use your new local number directly. Either way, your assistant is the one who answers.
What do the summaries look like?
After every call you get the caller's name, phone number, what they needed, and any time-sensitive details flagged, by text and email. It works the same for the jobs you hand it: after any call it makes or message it handles for you, you get a summary of what was said and done. Nothing happens in your name without you seeing it.
Can my assistant make calls for me?
Yes. Text its number from your registered phone and tell it who to call and why: set, move, or cancel an appointment, change a reservation, confirm a delivery, check a store's hours, or sit on hold with customer service so you do not have to. It confirms with you before calling a new contact for the first time, handles the call, and sends you the summary.
Can it send texts for me?
Yes, one-to-one. Dictate the update and it delivers it to the person you name, then handles the reply conversation and reports back. It also sends reminders and confirmations the same way. These are individual, personal texts only: it never sends bulk messages or marketing blasts, and it only contacts people you have approved. One timing note: texting switches on after a required carrier registration, which can take a few hours. Your calls are answered from day one.
What if a caller asks if it is a robot?
It answers honestly and keeps helping. It is your assistant and it says so, right out in the open. Most callers just want to know their message will actually reach you, and it will, with a summary in your hand minutes later.

What if I barely use it some months?
Quiet months cost less. With per-minute billing, you only draw credit for the calls and texts you actually use. Your number stays yours while the service is active, and there is no long-term contract.
