The deal, in plain language.
What the service is, what it costs, and what we each owe the other. Last updated October 16, 2026.
The service
Ringception AI ("Ringception", "we") provides an AI receptionist service. We build an automated assistant that answers your business phone (or your personal line, on the Personal Assistant plan) in your name, takes caller details and messages, answers questions using information you approve, transfers urgent calls to a number you choose, and sends you a summary after every call. By signing up or using the service, you agree to these terms.
Setup and platform fees
- Setup is $29, one time, under our new client promotion. It covers building your assistant, tuning it with you, and your approval test call. The setup fee is not refundable once you have approved your assistant on the test call. If we cannot deliver a working receptionist, we refund the setup fee in full.
- Your first month is the setup fee only. After the first month, the monthly fee is $15 per month for each phone number on your account. It covers the cost of your phone number, keeps your service active, and includes one script tune-up per month.
- There is no long-term contract. You can cancel anytime.
Prepaid credit
Usage runs on prepaid credit, bought in packs of $20, $50, or $100 through Stripe and added to your Ringception account. Your credit is prepaid: you pay up front, and usage draws it down. Nothing is ever charged to your card without you buying a pack.
- Talk time: $0.17 per minute, incoming and outgoing, billed per second.
- Phone numbers are covered by your monthly fee and are never drawn from your credit.
- Texts: $0.05 per message sent or received, drawn from your credit, if texting is enabled on your account. Optional text packs are a bulk discount: 1,000 texts for $40, 3,000 for $105, or 5,000 for $150. Packed texts are used first, overflow draws from credit at $0.05, and packs never expire while your account is open.
- When your balance drops under $5, we email you a low-balance alert with top-up links. If your credit runs out, your receptionist pauses automatically at a $2 safety buffer, and it turns itself back on automatically as soon as you top up. A paused account holds your number while the paid period is active.
- If a monthly payment fails, we will let you know and retry it. If it stays unpaid for 7 days, the service pauses. Your number is held for 30 days after a pause, then released.
Cancellation and refunds
- Cancel anytime by message or email. No cancellation fee, no retention process.
- Your service and your dedicated number stay active until the end of the paid period. Please remove any call forwarding pointing at your Ringception number before the period ends; we will remind you 3 days ahead.
- Any unused credit is your money and is refunded to your original payment method on request when you cancel. Unused text-pack messages have no cash value and are not refundable.
- There is never a final usage bill. Everything usage-related already drew from your prepaid credit.
Your responsibilities
- Give us accurate information at setup (your services, hours, prices you want quoted, transfer rules, and your never-say list), and tell us when it changes. Your assistant can only be as accurate as the information you approve.
- Approve your assistant on the test call before it goes live. Nothing launches without your approval.
- If you ask us to call or text anyone on your behalf, or give us a list of people to contact, you confirm you have their consent and the legal right to have us contact them, as laws like the TCPA require. We only contact warm, opted-in leads and people you name, and we honor every opt-out immediately.
- You are responsible for any recording notice your own callers need under the laws that apply to your business, and for telling us if you want a spoken notice built into your greeting.
- Fair use: the service is an answering and intake service for one business location's normal call volume, up to 100 calls per day per number and one call at a time per number. It is not a call center or a bulk dialing service. If you regularly need more, we will talk about a higher-capacity arrangement before anything changes.
Directing your assistant by text, and lead lists
Texted instructions are your instructions. When texting is enabled on your account, texts sent to your Ringception number from the phone number you registered with us are treated as instructions from you, with the same authority as instructions you give in your account or by email. Texts from any other number are not acted on as instructions. You are responsible for keeping your registered phone secure, and for telling us right away if that number changes or the phone is lost, so we can update the registration. When you direct your assistant to contact a new person for the first time, it will text you a confirmation before dialing.
Lead lists: your warranty. If you upload or give us a list of people to contact, you represent and warrant that every person on the list has given prior express consent to be contacted by your business, as the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) and state telemarketing laws require; that the list is made up of warm leads (past customers, inquiries, referrals, or people who opted in to hear from your business) and is not a cold, purchased, or scraped list; and that you will tell us immediately about anyone who asks not to be contacted. We contact listed people only during permitted calling hours, the assistant identifies itself honestly as an AI assistant with your business, and we honor every opt-out immediately and record it. We may pause or suspend outbound activity, including a lead list, that generates complaints, shows a spike in opt-outs, or appears non-compliant, and we will tell you if we do. Outbound calls and texts under this section draw from your prepaid credit at the standard rates, and how unused credit is handled does not change.
What the AI is, and is not
- It is an AI assistant. It sounds natural and follows your approved script, but it can make mistakes, and it answers honestly if a caller asks whether it is a real person. It never pretends to be you, or anyone else, as a human.
- It never takes payments or collects card, bank, or Social Security information.
- It is not for emergencies. Callers in an emergency should call 911, and your assistant is built to route urgent situations to you, not to manage them.
- Long negotiations, complex quotes, and sensitive situations belong with you. The assistant captures the details and gets them to you fast.
Acceptable use
Do not use the service for anything unlawful, for cold marketing calls or message blasts, for contacting people who have opted out, or to mislead anyone about who or what is calling. If a use looks non-compliant, we can decline or stop it, and we will tell you why.
Liability, in ordinary terms
We work hard to keep the service up and accurate, but it is provided as is, and we cannot promise it will never miss, mishear, or be briefly unavailable. To the extent the law allows, each side's total liability under these terms is limited to the amount you paid Ringception in the three months before the claim arose, and neither side is liable for indirect losses like lost profits. Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law says cannot be limited.
Governing law and changes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas. If we change these terms in a way that matters, we will update this page with a new date and, for active clients, send a note. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept the updated terms.
